A few days after his highly anticipated debut artist album “Damage Control” reached the #1 spot on the itunes U.S. dance music charts the day it was officially released, Mat Zo hit the decks at Create Nightclub in Hollywood as the LA stop on his headlining North American “Damage Control” bus tour. LA trance fans and the Hollywood crowd alike filled the nightclub from wall to wall, packed like sardines before Mat Zo even took the stage. Performing to what quite possibly might have been a sold out crowd.

Finally taking to the stage at 12:30 after tour companion opener Nom De Strip, the crowd roared in eager anticipation and it was ever so apparent across the dancefloor that a musical treat was about to ensue. Mat dropped the best of Damage Control tracks including his smashit collaboration with Porter Robinson “Easy”, dancefloor banger “Pyramid Scheme”, and progressive vocal “The Sky”, featuring the goosebump inducing voice of Linnea Schossow.  Saving the best for last, Mat dropped the Ilan Bluestone remix of my personal favorite “lucid dreams” towards the end of his set, causing the crowd to go absolutely nuts with full arms in the air.

Above & Beyond favorite “Sun & Moon” and trance classic “Need to Feel Loved” by Reflekt were smoothly executed in the set and even Benny Benassi’s classic 2003 hit “Satisfaction”, which was released when Mat Zo was just 13 years old. Big room sound track “Animals” by newcomer Martin Garrix was well received along with Above & Beyond’s Breaking Bad inspired “Walter White.” Mat’s well versed transitions from classic to recently released dance music tracks, exemplifies his ability to deliver a diverse performance that is sure to please all in attendance.

“Damage Control” is a rarity among dance music albums today, one that is thoroughly enjoyable from the first track to the very last, and only gets better as it progresses. The eclectic mix of melodies, beats and vocals on this album showcase Mat Zo’s unique talents as a rising, young star. At just 23 years of age, the Anjunabeats artist has proven to stand out as a gem among the dance music acts of today. Don’t miss your chance to experience one of Mat Zo’s remaining tour dates through December.
